Mix the 1 lb ground beef with the grated onion, 1 tsp salt and 0.5 tsp pepper; form 4 patties.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high and brown the patties, about 5-6 minutes per side, until no pink remains.
Step 4
Add the remaining 1 tbsp oil and fry the potato slices in a single layer, 10-12 minutes, turning until golden outside and tender inside.
Step 5
Thinly slice the cucumber and toss with a small pinch of salt; let it sit 5 minutes to lightly pickle.
Step 6
Rest the patties 2 minutes, then serve hot with the potatoes and cucumber alongside.
