Core tomatoes and halve lengthwise. Remove seeds and white parts with a spoon.

Char poblanos directly over a gas flame, turning with tongs, until blackened all over.

Place charred poblanos in a plastic bag for 5 minutes to steam, then rub off blackened skin.

Remove stems and seeds from poblanos. Slice into strips. Slice jalapeño into thin rings.

Bring chicken broth, chicken breasts, tomatoes, and onion halves to a boil.

Remove chicken to a cutting board. Let cool slightly, then shred with two forks.
