Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Combine soy sauce, grated pear, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and brown sugar in a bowl.

    Pat short ribs dry with paper towels. Arrange in a large baking dish or resealable bag.

  3. Step 3

    Pour marinade over ribs, coating all sides. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

    Position oven rack 4–5 inches from the broiler. Preheat broiler to high for 5 minutes.

    Transfer ribs to a broiler pan, arranging in a single layer. Reserve marinade.

    Broil for 6–8 minutes until edges char and caramelize, watching carefully to avoid burning.

  7. Step 7

    Flip ribs. Brush with reserved marinade. Broil another 6–8 minutes until deeply caramelized.

    Serve immediately while ribs are hot and glazed.
