Step 1
In a bowl, mix 1 cup glutinous rice flour with 0.5 cup water until a soft dough forms. If too sticky, add a little more flour; if too dry, add a splash of water.

Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You should get around 12 balls.
Step 3
In a pot, bring 2 cups water, 3 tbsp brown sugar, and 2 ginger slices to a boil. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then reduce to a simmer.
Step 4
Drop the rice balls into the simmering broth. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until they float to the surface and look slightly translucent.
Step 5
Serve warm in bowls, with the ginger slices removed if desired.
