Instructions

  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the 0.5 cup sesame seeds on a plate.

  2. Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1.5 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 0.5 teaspoon salt.

  3. Step 3

In a large bowl, beat the 0.5 cup softened butter and 0.75 cup sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Beat in the 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla until combined.

  4. Step 4

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.

  5. Step 5

Roll tablespoon-sized balls of dough in the sesame seeds, pressing gently to coat. Place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.

  6. Step 6

Bake until the edges are lightly golden and the cookies are set, about 12-14 minutes. Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
