Step 1
Toss diced apples with 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tbsp sugar until evenly coated.
Step 2
Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles. Press two triangles together to form a rectangle, then flatten gently with your palm.

Spoon apple mixture onto one half of the dough rectangle, leaving a 1/4-inch border. Fold dough over and crimp edges with a fork to seal.
Step 4
Heat oil in a deep skillet to 325°F (or until a cube of dough sizzles immediately when dropped in).
Step 5
Fry pies 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Work in batches; do not crowd the pan.
Step 6
Transfer to a paper towel. Brush warm pies with melted butter and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar while still hot.
