Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream butter and sugar in a bowl until pale and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
Step 2
Beat in egg and vanilla until combined, then fold in flour until just mixed.
Step 3
Divide dough in half. Whisk matcha powder into one half until the color is even and bright green.
Step 4
Fold white chocolate chips into the plain dough, then drop alternating spoonfuls of plain and matcha dough onto a sheet pan.
Step 5
Swirl the two colors together with a toothpick or knife for a marble effect.
Step 6
Bake 12–15 minutes until pale golden at the edges but still soft in the center.
